Alfalfa

Alfalfa

What a difference a sprout makes! Very popular in Asia, Alfalfa is an incredible herb, not only rich in minerals and chemical elements, but also in trace elements obtained from deep within the soil where the roots can reach down deep into the ground from 30 to 100 feet! Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant and a of the Pea family. It is referred to as “Lucerne” and is rich in a myriad of nutrients.  It is incredibly good for us and is a kind of fountain of youth inside our bodies. Many people know this food by the popular name Alfalfa Sprouts, but this food is powerful in numerous forms.

Loaded with Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Chlorine, Sodium, Potassium and Silicon, alfalfa has been widely used as a grassy forage for humans and livestock around the globe.  It makes bodies healthy and strong.  It’s incredibly adaptable and can be grown in nearly any type of soil or environment.

A great addition to any home garden, you can even grow Alfalfa in your kitchen if you choose to! The leaves predominantly carry most of the nutrition, but the sprouts also have great nutritional value, so eat your sprouts!

Alfalfa Juice

In the form of juice or extract, use the leaves and juice it fresh. What’s so great about alfalfa in juice form are the enzymes, and when the sun does its magic, it generates a fabulously healing chlorophyll, which is great for you! The chlorophyll molecule is comprised of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms around one single atom of magnesium. In fact, this compound has been compared to that of the hemoglobin of our red blood corpuscles.

The juice of fresh alfalfa is too strong by itself, so if you want to try it in juice form, do it with carrots. This combo is great for healing the arteries and dysfunctions associated with the heart.

Want to know another great benefit of alfalfa? It’s an amazing colon cleanser! It’s a great food to feast on when you’re trying to clean up your diet. Many raw foodies rely on alfalfa when they’re on a mini-fast or reduced diet.

Another fantastic affect of alfalfa’s chlorophyll content is it’s great respiratory, sinus, and lung healing capabilities. Mucus is the underlying cause of sinus infection and pains, as it is of bronchial and asthmatic conditions, including hay fever. If you or someone you know is a sufferer, try to refrain from flour, heavy grains, too much dairy, an overabundance of meat products, and concentrated sugar products. Alfalfa will help reduce mucus build-up and shrink sinus membranes. The juice is a great symptom reliever!

Alfalfa is also a huge fighter against prostate gland trouble, diabetes and cancer. Add it to carrot, beet, and cucumber juice, which tastes great and is good for you.
