The Power of Juicing & Blending

The Power of Juicing

Ah! The power of fresh fruit and vegetable juices!  There is nothing quite like their power.  Taking raw produce and transcending it into a beautiful, pristine liquid is truly instant nutrition for the body.  But why is life’s nectar so powerful inside our bodies? The short answer is because that liquid goes right to work on everything. There is nothing to “digest,” so the juice gets busy working on what needs repair right away. It’s truly amazing and can literally cure (or at least control) what ails you.  Eating the raw food is also important for roughage fiber and regulating digestion, but juicing really gets inside the body on the cellular level and fixes things up!

Fruit Juices

Fruit juices are the cleansers of the body. In many cases, detox mixes are blended with fruit to help purge the body of impurities, especially the liver and kidneys, which are the body’s natural “filters.”  The riper the fruit the better, if possible.  Fruit will also furnish the body with all of the carbohydrates and natural sugars it needs… and yes, natural sugars are good for you!  Fruit should be eaten with proteins and vegetables, but not with other heavy starches, especially if you are juicing for weight loss.

Vegetable Juices

Vegetable juices are the builders and regenerators of the body. They contain all the amino acids, minerals, salts, enzymes, and vitamins needed by the body. The key is to ensure the produce is the best it can be, and the juicer you are using does a good job of extracting the liquid.

Like all the most valuable things in life, the vital part of vegetables — that which contains the greatest concentrated value — is the most difficult to reach because it’s hidden inside all those fibers!  In this form, the juice goes right to work on all of your cells, furnishing them with the vitamins, nutrients, minerals, enzymes, and all the other good things they need.

Juicers and Equipment

When it comes to juicers, there are literally boatloads of different machines to choose from!  Prices can range from as little as $50 to as high as $1,000 for a high end machine. You don’t need to invest $1,000 to get a great juicer; the best affordable juicers fall within the $200-$300 range. We have recommended a few top models to choose from from Breville and Omega, which are very popular.

Blending vs. Juicing

When it comes to blending, the opinions vary from one side of the spectrum to the other.  Avid raw foodies and vegans say blending doesn’t go far enough to offer top nutrition because it doesn’t extract enough of the vital liquid like juicers do.  Others, however, say it’s great to blend for the fiber.  We say it’s up to you to decide, but many of us blend and use food processors for various recipes and dietary supplements, as well as using juicers.  Blending can also be much cheaper, offering you the ability pick up a great high end blender for as little as $50.00.   See some of our recommendations below.

Juicing & Blending for General Health

The greatest thing about juicing is it helps to counterbalance all the cooked foods we eat, which is really depleted of nutrition. So take the time to juice whenever possible. Even if it’s on the weekends or a couple times a week, take steps to heal your body and it will thank you for it.  🙂
